Frequently Asked Questions

Cub Scouts Scouts is the traditional Scouting experience for youth in the Kindergarten through 5th grade. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Cub Scouts participate in a huge array of activities, including games, projects, skits, stunts, songs, outdoor activities, trips, and service projects. Besides being fun, these activities offer opportunities for growth, achievement, and family involvement.

Cub Scouting focuses on the home and neighborhood. It helps Scouts strengthen connections to their local communities, which in turn supports their growth and development.

When compared to the cost of sports and many other activities, there is no doubt that Scouting delivers great value to its members! The registration fee for youth to join Scouting is $80 annually and there is a one-time joining fee of $25 for first time members.

Other costs to consider are the annual Pack Dues ($50.00) which cover the cost of adventure loops, elective loops, and award purchases.  There may be additional program participation and activity fees that may be charged by your pack and/or council for events such as Cub Scout Adventures, O.A. Pow Wow, Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta.

Of course, these costs may be offset by fundraising and other available scholarship funds. Please contact your local unit leadership for details.

Meetings are 2x’s a month except for federal holidays.  They vary based on grade level. Please check our calendar for upcoming meetings here. Our building is located inside Mission Lions Park 1500 E Kika De la Garza Loop Mission TX 78572

Yes of course. Cub Scouting operates through volunteer leadership, so your role as a parent is the secret to a successful Cub Scouting program. Parents help build youth activities and assist with den meetings. Learn more about how to lend a hand, volunteer, or lead

Absolutely! Scouting seeks to provide the positive outcomes of character development and leadership skills for all eligible youth. Since its founding in 1910, the BSA has guided young boys and girls of all abilities down their path to success. Based on the individual needs and circumstances involved, unit leadership will work with a child’s parents to ensure a challenging and rewarding Scouting experience.

For the first time in its 100+ year history, the iconic program of the Cub Scouts is open to girl youth as well as boy youth.

You’ve made a great choice to explore the fun and adventure of Scouting! To get started, simply complete a youth application along with the annual registration fee, all online! Pack leadership will make contact to get you started on next steps.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! There is nothing more rewarding than helping our young children take their first steps down the path to success. It’s easy to get started! Simply complete an online adult application, along with the $60 annual registration fee (includes cost of background check). From there your pack leadership will guide you step-by-step through the volunteer process.

Although there are many resources available to find more information about Cub Scouting on Scouting.org, the best source is to attend a den meeting! From planned activities, outdoor adventures, to volunteer service, Den leaders can provide answers to all of your Cub Scouting questions.
